In-Depth Seminar Tree Preservation in Design and Construction
Why do so many green building renderings show small newly planted trees? When in reality, here in Missouri, development is often set on lots with mature landscape trees or within native woodlands and projects could capitalize on this existing resource.
This presentation will make the case for preserving tree canopy on site to jump start the landscape’s ecosystem services such as improving human health and energy efficiencies. It will also cover the technical elements to a successful tree preservation project, including published BMPs and professional organizations that can help ensure trees stay healthy and structurally sound in the process.
Regional examples and lessons-learned will showcase the great potential and the possible challenges with tree preservation.
