August 12 Program
Sustainability as a National Strategic Imperative
Retired U.S. Marine Corps Colonel Mark "Puck" Mykleby will provide an overview of his work developing a new American grand strategy. This effort began in July 2009 when Mykleby and Navy Captain wayne Porter were asked by former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff to consider what a new national grand strategy should look like. He and Porter determined that sustainability needs to become our national strategic imperative if we, as a nation, are to meet the challenges and pursue the opportunities emerging in front of us as we continue into the 21st century.
In this presentation, Mykleby will frame out the logic of sustainability as the organizing logic for our nation as well as a framework for implementation that connects macro policies with Main Street, USA.
